Systematyka Gatunek ten opisała w 1952 roku rosyjska (radziecka) zoolog Galina Fiodorowna Maziepowa. W 1978 roku Maziepowa uznała ten takson za podgatunek Acanthocyclops rupestris, jednak obecnie jest traktowany jako osobny gatunek.
