Alan Ladd foi un actor d'Estaos Xuníos de cine negru, cine bélicu y western.

Biografía y carrera artística Ladd nació en Hot Springs, Arkansas, fíu d'inmigrantes ingleses. De primeres de la so carrera faía pequeños papeles nel cine, como'l de periodista en Citizen Kane, d'Orson Welles (1941). Al añu siguiente adquirió gran notoriedá pol so papel d'asesín sensible en This Gun for Hire (1942), xunto a Veronica Lake. Al ser dicha actriz tamién menuda, los estudios axuntaron a la pareya n'otres producciones bien populares, como The Glass Key, The Blue Dahlia y Saigon. Ye de señalar que'l destín de dambos actores sería tráxicu.

A Ladd llegó-y l'estrellalgu pol so papel de pistoleru tamién entrañable nel western clásicu Shane (1953), con Jean Arthur y Van Heflin. Ladd foi escoyíu 3 vegaes na llista Quigley 10 d'estrelles del añu (años 1947, 1953 y 1954). En 1954 protagonizó, xunto a Peter Cushing, Patrick Troughton y otros veteranos actores británicos, la película El caballeru negru (The Black Knight), tamién británica, onde representó, cosa rara nél, a un bravucón caballeru medieval. Desgraciadamente esti trabayu foi escurecíu pol gran ésitu collecháu con Shane.

Ladd trabayó tamién na radio, señaladamente na serie Box 13, que se presentó de 1948 a 1949 y foi producida pola mesma compañía del actor, Mayfair Productions.

Alan Ladd tuvo casáu col so axente, la ex actriz de cine mudu Sue Carol. L'actriz Jordan Ladd ye la so nieta. Cola so primer esposa, Midge Harrold, tuvo un fíu, Alan Ladd, Jr., quien se fixo executivu y productor cinematográficu, y fundó la Ladd Company. Otru fíu del actor, David Ladd, casóse cola actriz protagonista de la serie Charlie's Angels, Cheryl Ladd.

Alan Ladd morrió en Palm Springs (California), d'una sobredosis d'alcohol y barbitúricos, en 1964, a los 50 años, no que se consideró un probable suicidiu. Foi enterráu nel Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, de Glendale, California.
