Mentre la parola paggio viene oggi comparata nel senso comune al grado di servo, il grado di Paggio d'Onore è una prestigiosa posizione cerimoniale di corte della corona britannica. Esso è presente nelle occasioni di stato, ma non è coinvolto negli impegni quotidiani del monarca. L'unica attività fisica consiste nel portare il mantello del monarca.
I paggi d'onore sono presenti alle incoronazioni, all'apertura annuale del parlamento britannico e ad altre cerimonie di stato.
