Mathcore (iné názvy: math metal, technický hardcore, technický metalcore, progresívny metalcore) je rytmicky komplexný a neharmonický štýl metalcoru. Má korene v skupinách ako Converge, Botch a The Dillinger Escape Plan. Významné mathcorové skupiny sú spájané z grindcorom."Contemporary grindcore bands such as The Dillinger Escape Plan [...] have developed avant-garde versions of the genre incorporating frequent time signature changes and complex sounds that at times recall free jazz."
