Bitka 9. avgusta 1780 je bila pomorska bitka med ameriško revolucionarno vojno in del anglo-francoske vojne (1778–1783), v kateri je španska flota, ki jo je vodil admiral Luis de Córdova y Córdova, skupaj z eskadriljo francoskih ladij, naletela na velik britanski konvoj. Britanski konvoj, ki so ga spremljale ladje HMS Ramillies (74 topov, pod poveljstvom kapitana sira Johna Moutraya) in dve fregati - HMS Thetis (36 topov) in HMS Southampton (36 topov), je 27. julija izplul iz Portsmoutha. 9. avgusta so naleteli na francosko-špansko floto.
Francosko-španska flota je zajela 55 od 63 prisotnih trgovskih ladij, s čimer je to ena najpopolnejših pomorskih zavzetij ladij doslej.Londonska enciklopedija, str. 483 Izgube so znašale skupno 80.000 mušket, opremo za 40.000 vojakov, 294 topov in 3.144 mož. Finančni vpliv izgub je bil ocenjen na približno 1.500.000 funtov (1.000.000 funtov v zlatu in srebru ter 500.000 funtov v opremi in ladjah).
