Les xaronques arborícoles comunes (Hylidae) son la familia d'anfibios anuros más diversa (con 688 especies, superando por una centena a la siguiente, los bufónidos), siendo bien variables morfolóxica y ecológicamente. Dalgunes son verdes, magar esiste gran diversidá na so pigmentación. Xeneralmente aliméntense d'inseutos, pero dalgunes cacen pequeños vertebraos. Distribuyir por toa les zones de temperatures nidies d'América, Eurasia paleártica y el norte d'África.
